2. Artist's State Zeppelins West

When Subterranean Press announced the Lansdale book Zeppelins West, they decided not to produce a lettered state. We made arrangements with Subterranean Press, the author Joe R. Lansdale and the Artist Mark A. Nelson to produce an "Artist State" of the book limited to only 13 copies lettered "A" through "M" with one binding proof (pictured below) being produced with a photo copy of one of the pieces of art.

With the help of Judy Conant, an artist herself. Her and her staff do the most wonderful binding we have ever seen, The limited edition book was dismantled to separate the original book from the extra materials. The original boook was then quarterbound in leather, marked on the spine "Artist State" with special paper covering the boards. The "extra material" was bound like a chapbook, wtih it to being marked "Artist State." We purchased the original artwork and the binderhad it matted into the handmade traycase. The traycase was produced to hold the two books side by side to open up instead to the side. The artist, Mark A. Nelson then produced special signature pages for each book. The signature page for the original book each being hand colored by Mark, making each one unique in and of itself.

We got a little carried away on this project, while the issue price seemed kinda steep at the time, $450.00 we in fact lost money with this project because of the expense in producing it. It sold out pre-publication but over the years we have managed to purchase a copy here and there (generally for more then the original publish price) and do have one to offer at this time. Take a close look at the pictures below, I think you will agree, this is one of the nicest Lansdale items on the market today.
